Ceramic & Urushi "Chaire"
Description:
I recently finished another Urushi on Ceramic object, a "chaire" a little container for green tea. The body is made of burned, unglaced ceramic. In the beginning I have burned in two thin layers of ki-urushi, then coated with two layers of transparent urushi. In a next step, a third thin layer of transparent urushi was applied. With a large brush I thrown on a cloud of gold powder. After curing in the furô I applied a very thin layer of transparent urushi. After three days I polished the surface without any grinding, only using polishing paste "Amor" and polishing powder "migako". The lid I made from camel bone, which is often used instead of ivory
